Sprint6Blog(495)

From a modeler's perspective, the process of making Alchemic Crafter has gone great. We are coming to an end, and we have made great progress through all of the sprints. I’m very pleased with the work I’m putting out and I’m comfortable with those cards being assigned to me as well. For this sprint, I was able to get to all the cards without having any left in assigned which felt nice. For this sprint, I believe I completed a total of 23 cards or somewhere around there, which has been fairly consistent for the past sprints. I will go ahead and dive into some of cards that's I completed and then cover what I plan on doing for the last and final sprint.

For the first model, I made a fairly simple rug model which wasn’t too high in polys but still had some curviness to it to give it that look of a rug. One of the things I was stuck on for a solid minute was finding a texture to put on the rug to give it that nice art look. The one I ended up using was sort of a pixelated forest which was black and purple which I thought fit our theme. One other little, small touch I added was adding some little glowing green specks to give it that look of glowing eyes in the forest. Overall, I’m happy with how it came out.

The next model that I finished was a broken gateway model. For this each of the modelers including myself was assigned to make our own little prop to include in the game of our choice, so I decided to do what is supposed to be broken ruin portal kind of thing. It's kind of hard to explain but the actual image of the decoration will help. I had some fun making this one as it was a challenge to decide how I wanted it to look but, in the end, I got what I wanted. When it came to textures, I wanted to add some glowing runes going in a circle and also add some glow effect in the middle as well which I thought came out nice. I’m sure it will pop more in the actual scene with post processing applied.

The next model that I completed was a tapestry, which came out better than I thought it would have. I didn’t want to do nothing too much but still wanted to give it a nice look. First thing I did was create a couple of hooks with a bar since this wasn't going to just be hanging on the wall with nothing attached. Next was the actual tapestry. For this I ended up using a plane and adding some subdivisions to it and then making it an Ncloth to make it look like fabric. When it came to the textures, I ended up using one of the backgrounds that Lea made which look amazing.

The last model that I did was a simple garden chair. For this I took reference from an Adirondack chair and then just based it off of that. For the textures I just used a nice, stylized wood texture.

Something else I did was actually go back and add some water texture to the water fountain since it didn’t have anything in the center. I may or may not go back in the next sprint and try to add some water effect to it but that If I have time.

Overall, this sprint went great and just play tested the game again with our newest build and I have to say it looks and runs great. All the props, art and code that everyone has added looks great.
